Elias Diaz Reyes, A methodist minister in Mexico, has been supported financially by the Borden Community Church since 1996. During that time, Señor Reyes has served methodist churches in Satillo, Nuevo Laredo, Chihuahua, Tijuana, and currently in Monterrey.
Sr. Reyes has visited the Borden Community Church 7 times and preached in Spanish with his sermons being translated into English. He has a great singing voice and especially thrills his congregation when he sings "How Great Thou Art."
He and his wife, Ruth, have 3 daughters - Ruth, Ana, and Julie. Ruth and Ana attended Borden High School as foreign-exchange students in 1979-80.
Although 73 years old, Sr. Reyes is still very active in the large Trinity Methodist Church in Monterrey. Once a month he preaches on Sunday morning, oversees the outreach ministry for the elderly, supervises children's bible school in the summer, and has established a number of new churches in the outlying area of Monterrey.
